The building plan consists of two asymmetrical wings joined in the middle by an atrium space that provides daylighting and organizes the primary amenity spaces such as the lobby, bistro, activity rooms and fitness center.
Overall there is an emphasis on building transparency, to take advantage of the siting of the building on a bluff overlooking the marina. The spaces are organized to take advantage of this natural amenity, including an outdoor seating area.
At the completion of this project, the highest praise has come from our client who has hired DIG to design additional facilities in Berryville and Fishersville, VA, as well as seeking our guidance on designing an Independent Living sister facility in Beaufort.
