Clinton Hill Early Learning Childhood Center

Located within the Clinton Hill section of Newark’s South Ward, DIGroup is designing an early learning and childcare center which will serve as a destination for the children and community members of Newark.

Currently, in construction documents, this 2-story structure will include six toddler classrooms at the ground level and ten Pre-K classrooms at the upper level. Classrooms, office space, indoor play areas, a family center, play therapy suite, and open circulation spaces are situated around the site perimeter to create enclosed outdoor play areas, visible and accessible from the surrounding classrooms.

In addition to being a place for children to learn, grow, and develop, the center will also be used by community members to come together. The multi-purpose room and adjacent warming kitchen will serve as a flexible space to accommodate community functions on nights and weekends and will be used as the Pre-K gross motor area during the week. The highlight of this process has been spending time within the community learning from parents, educators, and especially from the children, we have the privilege of meeting. Every design session is brighter and more inspirational than the one before it.
