New Project: Ground-up Pre-K through Grade 5 School in the Bronx

DIGroup Architecture has been named the design architect by the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) for PS X515, a new Pre-K through grade 5 school in the Bronx. It is the firm’s first ground-up public-school design assignment in New York City under the SCA’s Capacity Program to alleviate overcrowding and reliance on temporary structures.

PS X515 is slated to open in September, 2027. DIGroup’s prior SCA projects include three primary school fit-outs in developer-based buildings in Brooklyn and Queens.

“We are thrilled to continue working with the New York City School Construction Authority on this impactful community project,” said Jeffrey Venezia, CEO of DIGroup Architecture. “With every academic facility we take on, we strive to create a sustainable, safe, functional and attractive facility that seamlessly complements the neighborhood in which it is built. This project will be no different – and we are looking forward to expanding our footprint and portfolio of projects with the largest school district in the nation.”

The proposed 100,000SF, six-story building will occupy an entire land parcel totaling 21,870SF across from Van Cortlandt Park, adjacent to an upcoming residential building. Once completed, PS X515 will accommodate 696 students, including 84 students from the City-Wide Special Education District 75 Program.

Planned building features include a Gymnatorium; play roof; dedicated early-childhood playground; library; speech, occupational and physical therapy rooms; art, science and music rooms; classrooms; kitchen; medical suite and administrative spaces.

DIGroup Architecture is partnering with the New York City School Construction Authority in the planning and design of the educational facility.
